GranDT

GranDT is Argentina’s top Football Fantasy Game, with over 29 editions and 6 million participants.

The Idea:

Just two days before the Euro 2021 final between England and Italy at Wembley, we noticed a small but significant detail: Lorenzo Insigne, Italy’s starting number 10, has a tattoo of Diego Maradona's face on his leg.

But... why was this so important?

Argentina is known for tango, its beef, the love for Maradona, and the intense rivalry with England since that painful defeat in the Malvinas War.

So, in a way, Diego (who had passed away just months earlier) would be present at Wembley, trying to spoil England's party.

Determined, we set out on a dream: to contact Insigne and ask him that, if he scored or won, he would celebrate by showing off his Maradona tattoo in front of all the English fans, in England.

And for that, we were going to need the help of our entire community...

Let’s ask Insigne to show his tattoo of “Diego” in front of the English. #DoItForDiego

The post reached over 135k people and had over 21k interactions, and just a few hours later, Diario Olé, Argentina’s biggest sports newspaper, shared our initiative.

Insigne's tattoo artist, saw the post and shared it in his stories, so we asked him to help us make the dream of reaching the Italian number 10 come true.

A few hours later, Lorenzo Insigne himself shared the proposal on his personal account, with over 2 million followers, hinting that he accepted our challenge!!

The news quickly started to go viral. First, in Naples, Insigne’s hometown and a place where Maradona is a legend.

Then, the news spread all across Italy.

And finally, it expanded to the major media outlets in Europe and Latin America.

Finally, after a 1-1 draw, Italy defeated England on penalties and was crowned champion.

Lorenzo Insigne, even though he didn’t score a goal, celebrated with his team by showing off his tattoo in front of all the English fans at the iconic Wembley Stadium.
